The major objectives of the initiative is to focus on 25 sectors of the economy for job creation and skill enhancement and to attract capital and technological investment in India. However, India needs to also look at the future – to make India an innovation destination for the world. “Make in India” should evolve into “Innovate in India”. Creator and co-author of the Global Innovation Index, Professor Soumitra Dutta will outline some of the strengths and challenges of India in the global innovation context.
